Don’t leave your safety to chance

Lightning protection system testing and inspection

We inspect and test domestic and commercial lightning protection systems to British safety standards, so your property is protected if lightning strikes.

Testing & Inspection

Why you need Lightning Protection System Testing

Any property that has a Lightning Protection System (LPS) installed, it’s a legal requirement to get it tested regularly. Section 5 of the Electricity at Work Act states a Lightning Protection System should be visually inspected and tested at regular fixed intervals of 12 months or less. Annual testing and inspection is essential to ensure your LPS remains in a serviceable condition and provides continued protection to your building and its occupants and contents.

An up-to-date LPS certificate is also often required when applying for commercial building insurance cover. We can help ensure that if lightning strikes, your commercial property is safe, protected and legally compliant.

We provide LPS testing and inspection for a range of commercial buildings, including…

Offices

Healthcare facilities

Shops and retail outlets

Business centres

Pubs and restaurants

Schools and colleges

Factories and workshops

Protect your buildings

Can you afford to take the risk?

The impact of a lightning strike on a home or commercial building can be devastating. It can shatter glass, fracture brick and stonework, crack foundations, blow out plaster and cause huge structural damage.

It’s also a major fire risk and can cause damage to electrical systems and connected equipment or appliances. The bill for repairs can run into tens of thousands of pounds.

According to RoSPA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, lightning strikes the ground around 300,000 times a year in the UK.

A professionally installed lightning protection system can reduce or eliminate the risks associated with a lightning strike. But, if you have an LPS, it’s crucial that it’s functioning correctly to provide maximum safety and protection. That’s why you need an annual inspection and test, so you have peace of mind that your system is compliant and working as it should.
